Goals

• to promote the development of Bulgarian dwelling types in the context of market-oriented economy, local climate and geographic conditions, and national traditions
• to enable provision of affordable housing, economically constructed through co-operation between public and private parties, including local government, householders, voluntary organisations, construction companies and financial institutions
• to create incentives for house construction and to promote the establishment of non-governmental organisations in the housing sector
  

In order to achieve these goals, the Bulgarian Housing Association has a range of activities as follows:

• maintaining a database of the performance and status of all aspects of housing, including housing stock, research, institutions, materials manufacture, and construction
• mediating exchange of scientific, technical and business information between Bulgarian and foreign parties and support joint-venture projects
• creation public support for high standards in housing design and environmentally friendly habitation by promoting successful schemes to a wider audience
• promotion and development both national and joint-venture research and housing investment projects, implementing modern methods for financing, construction, management and maintenance of housing

Priorities of the Bulgarian Housing Association in the nearest future:

• Participating in the adoption and implementation of the new Governmental Housing Policy stated in the Program of the Council of Ministers – establishing and development of network of non-governmental housing organizations in Bulgaria;
• Participating in the governmental initiatives in creating and adopting new legal framework for housing including the development of special housing associations law;
• Supporting the implementation of the governmental institutional and financial reforms in the housing sector;
• Promoting appropriate organizational patterns for the maintenance, management and renovation of the housing stock in compliance with the contemporary requirements and European standards;
• Helping the homeless and vulnerable social groups.

Membership of the Bulgarian Housing Association is open to all national and foreign entities and institutions sharing its goals.

We are aware that the Bulgarian Housing Association can achieve little without international collaboration and support. Therefore we consider our first priority to be building relationships with other organizations concerned with housing.
